After Taking Guinea Pigs Home
It seems quite pleasing to grab your charming guinea pig and keep it in your hold during first few days, after you have brought it home. However, he needs some time to become habitual to his new setting, for it is a new spot for him. You must let them adjust to the new atmosphere, for he gets tense and stress in their new home. Therefore, loud noises and occasional peeping should be avoided at all costs. You should let him have his time to become habitual of the new environment.
Very Important Note:
First of all, you should ensure a proper hiding shelter, when your guinea pig is at home. Also, remember that each of them must have his own area to seek refuge; otherwise, they would start squabbling.
Don’t Hover Around Them!
Keep it in mind that when you hover around the cage of your pet, you are often scaring him. Such actions often panic them and they lose their beauty of being a tender pet. Your pet might think that some eagle or other bird of prey is going to attack him. He remains terrified. However, in order to look friendlier to your pet, you should kneel down near his cage to have a closer look at him. Once he has observed you from close quarters, he would not feel at odd next time.

Bribing or offer of eatable is, undoubtedly, the best way to win trust of your pet. It seems silly, but it is true. Bribe offering is a sure way to win love and trust of you small pets and especially when it is some edible. You can find several things, which the guinea pig loves to eat. Such eatables are in abundance. You can refer to Chapter Five for eatables, the guinea pigs love to relish.

Afterwards open the door of your guinea pig's cage and throw it just outside the door. Of course, you can wait at a certain distance to win his trust and love.
If your pet is too shy and fearful to pick up your treat, you should pick it up carefully and leave him closing the door of his shelter. You know familiarity breeds love, and you should attempt it several times, until he gets used to it. He will definitely think of coming out and getting the prize even in your presence next time.
When he comes out from his cage, try to get closer to the cage. He is going to become habitual of your presence near his cage.
He will show his timidity, but he will seize the prize from your grip. If done repeatedly, he will get used to this idea of having some eatables. He will slowly welcome and won't fear it. He won't even experience fits of excitement that he does earlier.
